Thank you to those who supported me in my
recent bid for a seat on Red Deer County Council.
And congratulations to Penny Archibald for winning her
seventh term.
Red Deer County is a great place to live,
work, play and visit and has a great future.
The challenges of a region that is rapidly evolving requires
people with vision, dedication, fiscal responsibility and
integrity.
I love the diversity, beauty and opportunity of this County
and I look forward for opportunities to help take the
County to the next level.
The principles for the future betterment of Red Deer County
include balanced development, intelligent growth, protection
of our land and water, celebration of our diversity and
heritage, sustainability of our rural lifestyle,
co-operation with our municipal neighbours and consultation
with our residents.

Although
Red Deer County is primarily a rural municipality and will continue to
be so, some growth areas close to Red Deer including Springbrook and
Gasoline Alley, are taking
on urban characteristics which bring with it urban needs and challenges.
Being a long-term active resident in Springbrook, a hamlet in Red Deer
County, and in the communities of Red Deer, Innisfail and Sylvan Lake, I
keep myself well informed of the many issues in and around the Red Deer
Region.
Summary of complaints or requests from constituents visited during
campaign:
Most people seemed reasonably content and had no or few issues with
the county. There were several suggestions for improvements. Most people
with issues of concern had opinions both for and against. Comments
received include:
-
Better enforcement of speeding infractions on C & E Trail;
- Better enforcement of speeding infractions on Tamarack Blvd. and Oak
Street in Springbrook, especially at times when children are playing,
or, as alternative, construction of speed bumps;
- Better enforcement of street vehicles and off-street vehicles
travelling on municipal and environmental reserves;
- Construction of sidewalks in Springbrook;
-
Construction of an alley behind Tamarack Blvd. in Springbrook on the
municipal reserve;

-
Locating regional high school at edge of Springbrook;
- Locating commercial complex (gas station, Tim Hortons or similar,
convenience store) at corner of Airport Drive and Highway 2A;
- Improving intersection at Airport Drive and Highway 2A;
- Constructing alternate road access between Springbrook and Red Deer or
Highway 2A;
- Improving relationship between airport businesses and Airport
Authority;

skateboard park, off-road vehicle facility);
